TWIN 1
1. Perhaps
that we develop the same gestures even when our features are not the
same.
2. We share the same
religion, we both like plants and watching tv series... and although we studied
the same thing at university we liked different subjects (I loved methodology
and History while my sister liked grammar and language) We don´t like
irresponsibility and things done without care. I think we are both good
cooks and also good teachers.
3. We clalled each other
"sister" (we didn´t use our names until we were in 2nd or 3rd grade)
(i.e. instead of "Ale, can you lend me a pencil?" we said:
"sister, can you lend me a pencil") ...
We even share a
"twin-nickname" withing the family that it still in use (when our
relatives refer to both of us they call us "pipis")
4. You always have somebody
to share things with ... even when you are not sharing something you always
imagine or know the "other half´s opinion/reaction to it
"
TWIN 2:
1). In my case, I
cannot talk much about physical or personality similarities.
My sister and are twins that do not look alike and our personalities are quite
different. But I could point out that our differences complement each other and
made us good friends along our lives.
As we were always in the
same class at school, we shared friends and experiences growing up and it is
interesting to see how the same environment, the same parents, the same
friends, etc have shaped two different people with different and even opposite
personality traits. This has always caught my attention.
2). We believe
in the same God, so that could be one of our similarities. As regards thoughts
and ideas, I think we have the same ideas about family , raising children and
teaching , too. Many of our differences are connected to our types of learning
and understanding. In my case it has always been easy for me to understand
English and acquire the language naturally while my sister studied the grammar
rules to learn. When we studied to be teachers I had absolutely no problem with
the subjects we studied in English, but it was awfully difficult for me to
understand and even grasp ideas in the classes we attended inSpanish,
(psychology, pedagogy, ethics, etc). My sister always had to explain these to
me, sometimes more than once.
Our mother always mentions
our differences as we were growing up. She used to dress us alike (with
differentcolours, though) and I was always neat and tidy with my
clothes(lady-like) and my sister would get dirty easily and look more like a
boy , especially her bruised knees!
I can also point out that
I'm quite absent minded whereas my sister always remembered what I forgot. She
was like the note pad I needed to remember people, names, experiences or
things. Now she lives far away and I have to do the job my myself.
Regarding skills, I think
my sister has great organizational and people skills but I lack both
of them. She is always making fun of my love for "lysoform" and
cleaning. She doesn' t care much for germs, that's one of the
obsessions that we don't share.
3) I can't think of ONE
anecdote, but something that I always find surprising is that we could
communicate without talking. I would think of a question to ask my sister and
she automatically answered it. But then we realised I had NOT SAID the
question, I had only THOUGHT about it. This was quite common when we lived
together. (it was also the other way round, i could answer her MIND questions)
When I was pregnant
with my first baby, my sister told me that she was having the
pregnancy sickness..... And I told her that I was never sick in the
mornings, it was always in the evening, so I thought this was not a
coincidence. But she told me It was at that time she was having an upset
stomach, so... BIG coincidence!!! And ..... At that time we were living 2000km
away!!
4)I could mention many
things that make twins special but forme it has always been that
connection we have that I think comes from sharing so many things and
experiences in life.
